I’ve just spent two very unproductive days at work. Arrggghhh!!! I hate that when I have done nothing to show for at the end of the day. I put all the blame on IT. They should have fixed all of our profiles ages ago before we went on forced leave. Dios Mio!!!
During those two, again, unproductive days, I should have been able to log into my skillport, check out the computer-based training (CBT) documents which includes ITIL v3 (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) as well as a training module for Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician. That’s a lot of information to take note of in the span of two weeks. I can only say two words. Information overload. Need I say more? Oh yeah, how about, nosebleed?
Now, I’ve lost two days out of five, when I should be studying. Demmit! Too bad, Kinky said we’ll never get any sort of certification out of it, even if we busted our brains out studying. That’s sad really. I mean, if you really want to get ahead in the IT industry, then you need a lot of certifications. There’re Microsoft certifications, programming languages certifications and one mustn’t forget to get a Cisco certification. Getting a Cisco certification would require you to go to boot camp. Yes, boot camp for Cisco. I know of a friend, who went to one, he spent most of his savings there. Just to get a Cisco certification. Luckily, he passed the exams. Otherwise, that’s a lot of money down the drain. Now, my friend works for Verizon as a service desk agent there.
As for us, well, I told Kinky that once we’ve gotten through the modules, we’ll just have to take the exams and get the necessary paperwork for it since the company wouldn’t do it for us. Just a little something to add to our resumes.
And maybe, just maybe, we can get a much-needed salary increase out of it!
